Songs that make LoopDeeLoops

While taking a short break to play a few songs in Audiosurf, I've discovered two songs that create a corkscrew barrel roll in the track on AudioSurf! I didn't even know that was possible. They are "Querer" Composed by René Dupéré from the Cirque du Soleil - Alegria soundtrack and "If you can use a doorknob" performed by the Northwest Sinfonia from the game "Age of Mythology."

On closer inspection, "If you can use a doorknob" makes a 90 degree bank and then straightens out, but "Querer" certainly does even though the camera turns with the track, so you can only see the twisting road ahead.

Drider WIP

This is a work-in-progress of a man spider thing, or a drider, as D and D folk would say. There is no head at the moment, but I have them in different files and I'll add them in later. I'm having trouble getting the right look for the human part. It looks like a plastic toy. Any Suggestions?

Ulala

Today, I've discovered that I can rent Intuos4 tablets. So I tried one out and make a quick painting of Ulala from Space Channel 5 made entirely of flowers.

Office party gone awry

Today's word is, "Crackbrainedness" and it means like how it sounds. Insanity. It's what happens when you become a zombie and try to negotiate with a crackbrained orangutan who stole your tie.

The Angoras

Today's word is "Angora." I didn't think that personal nouns were in the random word generator. It typically means, "The hair of the Angora goat or of the Angora rabbit. Also called Angora wool." When I looked them up, I had to draw these magnificent woolly creatures.

Quotidian Drawing

I haven't been posting consistently and it's time to get back to it. My friend, Chris Kawagiwa suggested that I try drawing a word from the dictionary everyday. So I found a random word generator to make words for me to draw. This not only hones my ability to draw, but I expand my vocabulary and become more familiar with typography. The first word that I did not recognize was "Quotidian," which coincidentally means occurring everyday. Perfect for daily drawing. Thanks Chris for the tip and now, back to drawing!

The Grudge of the Dinos

Ralph and I decided to do our own endings, so I'll show you the real ending first. (Read from TOP to BOTTOM)

The tenacity and love of vengeance that is common amongst all raptors is actually found in their DNA. Even though ogres had become the dominant race in the near future, one clever human outcast, Simon, found a way to bring back more than just our three heroes. When the greedy Ogre government thugs killed Simon over his dino research, the Ogre/Raptor blood feud was re-ignited and the underground raptor forces united to overthrow the now overpowering and corrupt ogre state. The raptors proved to be noteworthy survivors and had thousands of generations of raptor descendants. The lessons learned from the evil ogres were passed on to each generation, never to be forgotten. On the day that Ogg's cryogenic pod returned to the earth, the raptors did not know what to expect. It wasn't until the door opened and Ogg was seen by all, that they knew what had to be done. And so, this saga comes to a close, but the world of the raptors lives on; Free from the tyranny of the Ogre clans.

Never cross raptors.
They are tenacious dinos.
Seeking blood payment.

For ten thousand years,
They waited for their revenge.
...for when Ogg returns.

Underground they train,
Overthrow the government,
and for years, they thrive,

Teaching their children
about the evil ogres
and tales of justice.

Today is the day.
Ogg has returned to the earth.
Vengeance is complete.
(revenge is so sweet.)

Working to end it

I'm working on a multi-page response that should bring this series to a close. I should have everything done by Friday or Saturday.

Meet Rok

The inevitable power from within (his stomach) has given one unwitting raptor both super strength and a name. Meet Rok.

Against great peril,
mysterious power
begets, Raptor Rok.

Life Drawing

These are a few drawings from today's life drawing class. Don't mind his left hand, that was intentional.

I should probably get a better scanner. It only works on my old computer, the colors never scan correctly and it takes 2 minutes per image. But it's extremely small and that's the only reason I still use it.

Raptor's Rock!

The resilience of the raptor has once again been underestimated. Just to prove that raptors rock, your ogre was subdued by the Raptor's rock.

Not all were buried
in the tomb of rock and earth.
The Raptor's rock hurts.

Sexy Dinos?

Ralph will probably be too busy today to respond to my counter attack, so today's drawing is a bit of an aside from the normal story. I'll be heading down to Comic Book Sunday today and hanging out. I'll resume the story on Monday, if Ralph is able to draw his way out of the dire situation that's his ogre is in.

Dinos are crafty.
Hiding in my birthday cake.
This is NOT sexy.

Don't look where you're going!

Ogg had temporarily escaped from the Raptor on the street, but he forgot entirely about the two who were clinging to the tree. With their trap already set, it was a simple matter of waiting. After taking two blows to the head and surviving the shock-wave of a concentrated oxygen explosion, Ogg is left in a very disoriented state.

Ogg slides down the hill,
into a raptor-made trap.
Yum! It's time to eat!

Making days last longer

I think I've forgotten how to sleep.
I think I'll draw instead.

Haiku-compliant post:

Something is missing.
I've forgotten how to sleep.
It must be my mind.

Michael Bay would be proud

You're not the only one who can use explosions, Ralphuoso. If you're taking it up a notch, then I'll raise you..to the extreme!

Over-productive day

I spent the last 23 hours drawing and 3D modeling. I was going to wait for Ralph to post his response to my latest attack, but I need to wake up in 5 hours.

Booya!

If you didn't read the last post, then I'll remind you, Raptors are clever. The theme songs from McGuiver and A-Team were playing in my head while I drew this. Ralphalonius thought that there was no escape for my raptors. Well now he's eating his words and his ogre is eating flying raptor jump kicks.

Raptors are Clever

Such a fool playing right into the claws of his foes. Who could have expected this? Raptors in disguise? "Insidious, evil, deplorable" you say. I say, "You're welcome." That ogre cannot hope to outwit the raptors.

Raptor Counter Attack

Raptors are pack hunters, Ralphio. It looks like your ogre isn't in a position to win. You'll need a few more arms and a few more...bars to subdue all of them.

Raptor Versus Ogre: Who will win?

Just when you thought I was done drawing raptors, BAM! There's a raptor! And he is chomping down on Mirando's ogre. What's he going to do next? Only Raalph knows.

Lagging a bit

I didn't draw anything for the blog on the weekend. I was learning ZBrush from a tutorial DVD and finishing some storyboards for class (not worth posting), but once I get some tangible results from the ZBrush work, I'll post it up. But that will have to wait, I need to model out the succubus on the right before Friday. She's not wearing much because her clothes will be added after the rigging is complete.

I went to life drawing today and learned a bit more about shadow shapes. Looks like I need to learn some more. I did discover that there is a gesture class on Wednesday morning, so I might hit that up depending on how far along I am in modeling.

More Raptors

I decided to continue drawing raptors for the remainder of the week. This was a simple study of the bones. For the next one, I'll draw my best guess for how the muscles will fit into place. The scan is a little crappy because I left my book in the car and it warped in the middle.

Today, I stopped by Stuart Ng Books in Torrance and picked up a some sketchbooks from Chris Sanders and Adam Hughes. I'll definitely stop by there again. Ralph bought me some food at King's Hawaiian restaurant, thanks Ralph, and Eric helped me fix some things at my grandma's place, thanks Eric.

Velociraptor Study

I'm going to try and post a drawing a day. A few of my friends have promised to do the same, so I have more motivation to stick with it and not get behind. Today, I have a study of a velociraptor.

Legend of the Spirit Warrior Concept

This is a quick concept drawing of a cave entrance for a game that I'm working on called, The Legend of the Spirit Fighter.
